Craig Wetjen, originally hailing from the USA, courageously ventured to Australia 28 years ago, stepping beyond his comfort zone. Already established in his early career in the USA, Craig actively embraced the realm of photography upon his arrival in Australia.
In 1986, Craig commenced his journey by capturing sporting events for local newspapers in Connecticut, USA. One notable highlight was his stint with NASA while pursuing his photography degree.
His relocation to Australia in 1996 marked a significant milestone, as he pioneered one of the Australia’s earliest university courses on digital photography at RMIT. The landscape of digital photography then was remarkably different from today's digital photography.
With over three decades of photography industry experience, Craig has amassed numerous prestigious awards globally. He believes every photograph contributes to a photographer's growth, regardless of acclaim or client delivery.
Craig has excelled as an author. His 2016 bestseller, 'Men and Their Sheds,' received acclaim through appearances on Channel 10's The Project and Channel 9GO! Manspace TV. Through his work, Craig emphasizes mental health and the therapeutic role that photography plays.
Craig's passion extends to nurturing creativity, delivering excellence, and ensuring a fulfilling experience in capturing moments, people’s personalities authentically. He also serves as an educator, with 20 years of teaching experience at institutions like Photography Studies College, Melbourne Polytechnic, RMIT and Swinburne University.
