After a three-year hiatus, the Society plans to resume its biennial photographic exhibition in 2023 with Expressions 4. Previous exhibitions in 2015, 2017 and 2019 were held at the Arts Centre, Warburton and saw around 25 members exhibit their work in a formal public gallery environment. The exhibition is usually held over several weeks.
Participating in an exhibition of this type is a fantastic experience and a wonderful way for the public (and your family and friends) to see the exceptionally high standard of work our members produce. Depending on the number of members wishing to participate, exhibitors are usually asked to submit one or two images to the exhibition.
This is a print exhibition. For members who do not normally print their images, we will provide assistance for you at very reasonable costs. We do not want to leave anyone out!
To secure exhibition space, the Society must submit a formal application to the Yarra Ranges Council. Before applying, we need to know how many members are interested in participating in next year’s exhibition.
If you would like to be one of the exhibitors, please reply to Rob Wagner by no later than Sunday, September 11.
THE BRIEF
Expressions 4 - The Yarra Ranges Photographic Society’s fourth biennial exhibition will showcase the imagination and talents of its members as they look through the camera lens - an idea, a feeling, an image formed with conscious thought.
The Society aims to present stimulating and diverse statements of contemporary photography. The exhibition will display our favourite works, traversing various subjects and concepts. The themes explored include portraiture, landscape, flora and fauna, monochrome, and abstract, macro and creatively enhanced images.
The object of the exhibition is to demonstrate the artistry of photographers from the Yarra Ranges community, to promote the Yarra Ranges Photographic Society to the broader community, and share our passion for photography. We aim to encourage the community to join us in this stimulating art form.
