Since joining the Geelong Camera Club in 1997, I have enjoyed serving my club in numerous capacities, most notably as president for seven years and receiving a Life Membership. Camera clubs bring an opportunity to share and inspire which is why I have presented, demonstrated, instructed and judged for over 20 years.

Although I enjoy and appreciate all types of photography, I usually choose to express myself through black and white photography. Personally, I find black and white photography to have a quality and emotion that I can’t resist. I love the mystique of monochrome, where both photographer and viewer rely on their own interpretation of tones, shapes, patterns and textures.

Ansel Adams wrote three biblical books for the black and white film photographer: The Camera, The Negative and The Print. Digital photography has certainly changed the way we shoot, process and present. On July 1st, let’s explore and discuss the differences between analogue and digital black and white photography.
